I guess if we have reached peak daylight, then things are downhill from here. But I guess the slope is not linear, so it doesn’t feel like that. I hope this is not a metaphor for something.
Oh, but I did get my review of Reading Tolkien in Chinese posted to Cha.
Monday
Asteroid City is intriguing. I like the strangeness of Wes Anderson movies in general. I often don’t know why things are the way they are, but there does seem to be some unlying reason because it seems all so well laid out. This one particularly tickled me because it involved curious nerds after my own heart. What’s your favourite Wes Anderson movie?
Tuesday
Waste not, want not. I’m not sure how that applies. Maybe it’s actually the reverse. Have I mentioned my dog poop theory of why the world sucks? Even though I am conscientious about picking up after my dog, I do not go around pick up after others who have not. So, like with entropy, without extra energy, things deteriorate.
Wednesday
My body was not doing what it should. I think it might be a change in my meds. But the trouble with experimenting on yourself is not really having a control. So I am not so sure what is going on. Could also be an after effect of miscellaneous COVID damage. Fun times.
Thursday
This is a Japanese Godzilla movie. I mention this in case you expect to see Millie Bobbie Brown or maybe Mathew Broderick in it. They are not. I found it interesting to hear about how some of the characters talked about their experience of the War and their government.
Friday
I was trying to find out some financial information from the government. Have you ever read Gormenghast? Bureacratic interactions remind me of that. But a friend pointed out that maybe in fact, the problem is poor user interface design. Computers can make it easy to do things badly. Like drawing comics on an ipad.
Saturday
Once upon a time I was a Host at the Ontario Science Centre. It was a beautiful building designed by Raymond Moriyama (long-time family friend and namesake). Working there was a formative experience for me as a university student. I met some of the most wonderful people. I do not live in Ontario anymore, but the Premier there Rob Ford has shut down the building because of long term government negligence leading to roof leaks. I can’t speak objectively about this, but it is a disappointing thing to hear.
Sunday
It’s actually overcast today, but I have a rare outing, and I am hoping the weather holds. I noticed the comics were a little negative this week. Might be my gut biome. So here’s an excuse to draw what I want to see in the world.
That was my week. Hope you had a good one, with a better one to come.
In case you haven’t yet, you can sign up to get this vanity project emailed to you once a week.
I hear you on the forms. I never quite get them right either. I would blame it on poor UI design too, now that I have been exposed to UI designers and understand what it means. Sorry to hear about OSC - that's a horrible way to shut it down on top of it all.
Life Aquatic … if you haven’t seen it … you of all people must do so immediately!
