I should probably have an introduction, but I never really have a consistent theme or anything. So I will just say, here’s another week.
Monday
My spouse has been doing tai chi at the community centre for a few years now. She likes the instructor Chelsea, who has some impressive tattoos. They had room for a drop-in class in the park. I had done tai chi long ago in Japan and this was a pleasant refresher. I think they may do a different style than what I learned but had mostly forgotten anyway.
Tuesday
This is a Japanese TV show of 9 episodes, apparently inspired by the songs of a famous Japanese singer who I don’t know. I watched it because of Hikari Mitsushima, who was in another Japanese show I enjoyed called Quartet. Also the male character was in a samurai series of movies based on manga called Rurouni Kenshin. It has an interesting non-linear storytelling approach.
Wednesday
I was noticing the other day, how went I look out at the world, I think I am the same person, more or less, but the way that I must seem has been changing. This began because my teen, who almost no longer a teen was noticing how she thought others were much older her, but actually were not. So I think there must a be a lag between how you are and how you think you are. Do you find that?
Thursday
I like working on a my own, on my own schedule, but lately I’ve had some earlier meetings that got in the way. So I thought I should try to exercise earlier, because later on I find it much harder to convince myself to move. But earlier I found out some movements still take precedence and also interrupt my plans.
Friday
I had been working on writing and illustrating the folk tale of Tanabata for the HR MacMillan Space Centre and the Powell Street Festival. Miho Wakai, a grad student studying dark matter, is going to be presenting it. We got interviewed by Margaret Gallagher for North by Northwest whom I have met before. Since it was recorded, it was more more relaxing than when it is live over a phone. Here’s the self of us in the studio that Margaret took. During the recording she was on the other side of the glass. I heard it this morning and I didn’t feel too embarrassed by it.
Saturday
Our car had been warning us that the battery needed looking at. We have a Mitsubishi and I recently realized they now have a dealer in Vancouver. We had bought and been seeing one in Burnaby, which is much further away. So I went to the closer place, although I was confused because their service department is not in the same place as the sale department. Anyhow, they pointed out that we have a doohickey that draws current to electrify the chassis so it doesn’t rust. I thought that was fascinating but perhaps concerning. We have been driving less lately, but everything has consequences.
Sunday
Lately, I have been thinking of puns involving invertebrates for my amusement. This may eventually become my niche if I can find the market for them.
So that was my week. I hope you had a good one and have a better one to come.
I heard your interview with Margaret Gallagher this morning. I thought you and Miho sounded great. ❤️
