We seem to be well into spring in Vancouver now, although my family and friends in Ontario just had a dump of snow. How is the weather where you are?
Monday
The cherry blossoms are starting to come out and pollen of various sorts is in the air. I read somewhere that many horticulturalists choose male trees so they don’t have to clean up the fruits. But now we get more pollen. I have only seen a few Korean dramas, but they do seem to have a lot of crying in them.
Tuesday
I redrew some panels from this graphic memoir. Apparently, he usually does fiction. I liked his clean style and use of animal heads on the characters.
If you know anyone else who likes comics, I suppose you could let them know about this newsletter.
Wednesday
We have had this dryer for twenty-five years. As I was looking up YouTube videos on how to fix it, I found out that the plastic duct we were using is no longer allowed and that I should have been cleaning it out regularly. While we wait for the part to arrive, we have clothing hanging around the house drying out.
Thursday
I am sympathetic to the efforts of Damsel to twist some fairy tale tropes, and I enjoyed the visuals, although maybe the story did not really make a lot of sense.
Friday
I have previously mentioned the splendidly odd How To with John Wilson on HBO. I saw an episode that included a conference of vacuum cleaner collectors (mostly white men) who have many vacuums. I do not collect vacuums, but the stories they told about theirs reminded me of vacuums I have known. If this is not compelling content, I don’t know what is.
Saturday
Sorry if this is too much information. Sometimes stuff leaks out, which is why I thought my brains might be getting away from me. A friend noted that his might be a kind of allergic reaction to the previously mentioned pollen, but it has been annoying me throughout the year. It is weird not to be able to see what is going on in there.
Sunday
We started watching The Three Body Problem on Netflix, which is an interesting interpretation of the science fiction trilogy by Cixin Liu. I have only read the first two books and now I’m not sure if I want to read the third, or wait to see what happens. With Game of Thrones and other shows, I have been the sort who reads the book first. But lately, I’ve been thinking that it can also be enjoyable to just enjoy the show instead of trying to compare it to what I know from the books. What about you?
That was my week. I hope you had a good one with a better on to come.
