Although we're not at the "old and lonely" stage yet, your interactions with the cashier remind (so I hear) that some elderly people go to the grocery store for the social interaction with cashier. Another reason not to use self-checkout, where if the tap feature doesn't work, I never know which side of the magnetic strip on my card to swipe.
I have heard that little social interactions can be good for anybody, not just the elderly. This particular store does not have a checkout option and I think that is a good thing. Even when I do use the self-checkout in other places, I usually end up having to talk to a staff person anyhow because something doesn't scan properly. I'm bad at following instructions.
Looking forward to this graphic memoir Not Made in Japan coming into the world. Happy to connect one day!
Thanks for the encouragement!
I especially appreciated Under the Sea and You Do You! Believe me, you're far from alone in your sentiments in these two!
Thanks for the encouragement!
