I usually start working on this on Sunday morning, but sometimes I get distracted before finishing. Today I did a little work in the garden, trying to clean whatever it is that grows on the metal fencing. I should probably just leave it. How are things where you are?
Monday
I’m getting a little better at using and cleaning the cast iron. I was reminded of the character in Tangled using a frying pan as a weapon. Non-stick pans seemed like such a great idea when I was younger. But now I have realized they don’t last. Many things seem to be made this way these days.
Tuesday
I just realized I didn’t even remove the rough under layer. What a slacker. It is tempting to show only your best work. On the one hand, I feel bad that I don’t try harder. On the other hand, the point is process of trying to create something and maybe encourage others to keep going too. And if I started worrying about whether something was actually good, I guess I wouldn’t bother posting anything at all.
Wednesday
I have not been to a theatre since the pandemic began and now I prefer to watch movies at home so I can take washroom breaks. I don’t think that scientists come out of this looking that good. But maybe at least not a bad as the military and the politicians. I remember the first time visiting the museum in Hiroshima and seeing a human shadow scorched into the sidewalk. And meeting a great aunt who still had glass embedded in her flesh.
Thursday
The lettering on the Oiler’s logo seems pretty old-fashioned too. Unfortunately, they have since lost the first game. I hope I didn’t jinx them. The other goalie was quite good in the first game.
Friday
Maybe they saw this comic. This morning I put out a bag of garbage on the back step that I was going to put in the garbage can later, but before I got around to it, I think a crow pecked it open and made a mess.
Saturday
Apparently, PEZ candies did not have the fancy packaging until a little later. And the word seems to be short for a long German term. TVs were a little different at first. My dad still seems to be going pretty strong, considering.
Sunday
It has gotten warm enough in Vancouver for me to wear shorts, to the misfortune of those who can see my hairy legs.
That was my week. I hope you had a good one and a better one to come.
There are so many things here I want to comment on! I'm also trying to get away from non-stick pans abs I've entered cast iron land. It's definitely different and it takes practice, but so far ib really like it.
I mess up my layers and ends up with my messy pencil sketch showing sometimes, too. When you do a comic every day, they can't always be perfect. Give yourself grace - you're not lazy! Your comics are wonderful!
It's shorts time here in Michigan, too, so I definitely know what you mean. My legs are not ready! 😂
